Michael Cheek held off the competition to finish as top goalscorer for the 2020/21 National League season, with 21 goals in the campaign.
Cheek’s 2020/21 season was the best of his career so far with 25 scored in all competitions, including the two wiped off against Dover Athletic from the start of the season. This season’s haul beat his 2016/17 record with Braintree, where he tallied 20 goals.
On achieving the feat, Cheek spoke of his personal pride on fending off strikers from around the League;
“It really means a lot to me, the National League has a lot of good goal-scorers so it was always going to be competitive. To come out on top is something I’m really proud of. It was touch and go however after the goals against Dover we’re chalked off!”
On the prospect of another exciting season ahead with the Ravens, Cheek expressed his eagerness to be back in-front of the supporters at Hayes Lane;
“The fans are such a big part of the Club and we really felt that at the Notts County game. To have them back next season will really boost us all.“
