This weekend sees a number of our Youth and Youth Academy squads in Cup action, with plenty at stake for the young Ravens!
Two squads from our Youth Academy were in semi-final clashes on Saturday. The U14s, coached by Liam Read, took on Bristol Inner City in the semi-final of the JPL Shield. The U14s reached this stage after an 8-0 win in the previous round. Unfortunately their run in this year’s competition ended in a 1-0 defeat, but the team can be proud of reaching that stage.
Matt Griffiths’ U16s hosted FC Wiltshire on the Stadium pitch at Hayes Lane on Saturday, as they battled out a narrow 1-0 win in the quarter-finals last weekend to set up the semi-final tie. And it was once again another narrow 2-1 win, but that now means the U16s are in their third consecutive JPL Cup final, looking to make it three wins in a row.
Continuing on from last week’s success for our Youth squads, the U9 Ravens are battling it out in their Gold Shield final this weekend too. Good luck to all of the teams, we will bring updates on their progress across the weekend.
