Bromley fell to defeat at the Silverlake Stadium on Tuesday night, with Mark Yeates’ 5th minute strike separating the sides.
The Ravens got away with a close shave before Yeates struck on 4 minutes. A corner from the aforementioned midfielder was headed just wide of goal by the unmarked Cavaghn Miley.
However, the hosts would make the Ravens pay just a minute later. Ben Williamson got the better of Marc-Anthony Okoye down the left side and floated in a well weighted cross, where Yeates was on hand to head into the turf and into the net.
The game then morphed into an overly scrappy affair, and both sides failed to create many clear cut chances.
Bromley did have a good opportunity to equalise on 28 minutes though. Good link up play from Omar Bugiel and Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe saw the latter produce a brilliant flick to play the former in on goal, but Bugiel couldn’t get his shot away on time, and an attempted clearance ricocheted off his leg and out for a goal kick.
After the break, Eastleigh were looking to extend their lead, and it was thanks to David Gregory in the Bromley goal that they were unable to.
After acrobatically denying a powerful drive from Williamson, he made a superb, point blank range stop from Chris Zebroski, who powered Williamson’s cross at goal from the edge of the six yard box.
Other than Jack Holland dragging a shot wide in injury time, and Bromley being unable to hit the target from a game of pinball in the box, neither side would be presented with another clear chance, in what was another scrappy half.
The Ravens now turn their attentions to the visit of Gateshead on Saturday. Remember, you can save money by booking your tickets in advance. Click here for more information.
