Sutton United 0-2 Bromley

It was the home side who had the first chance of the game as Dundas controlled a cross well before looping the ball back to the far post where the ball should have been poked in tot he back of the net only to be poked wide of the goal.

Bromley’s first half chance of the game fell to Minshull. A cross from Dennis was headed clear to edge of the box where Minshull met the ball with a powerful volley which didn’t stop rising until it left the ground.

Sutton should have taken the lead after twenty two minutes, Fleetwood with a great cross to the far post where McAllister was waiting to head the ball back to the on rushing Stearn who fired the ball high and wide when it looked easier to score.

It was the visitors Bromley who took the lead, a free kick swung in by Anderson was misjudged by the keeper as Sean Francis rose to head home.

Bromley almost doubled the lead minutes later when Dennis burst down the wing before sending a great cross into the box but Alex Wall’s header was well saved by the Sutton keeper.

Late in the half Alan Julian was called into action twice, first making a great save from a Stearn freekick before having to stretch to his right hand post to save from a Southam strike.

Sutton had the first chance of the second half as substitute Bolarinwa had his header at goal well saved by substitute Bromley keeper McNamara.

The Lillywhites should have doubled their lead half way through the second half as Cook sent in a great cross to the far post but Holland failed to make contact on the slide.

It didn’t take long for Bromley to extend their lead though as a long throw from Udoji was set back by Birchall to Joseph-Dubois who beat the Sutton defender before firing a left foot strike into the bottom corner of the goal.

Late on Sutton were awarded a soft penalty but failed to capitalise as Spillane stepped up and saw his right foot effort well saved buy McNamara diving to his right hand side.

A perfect end to a long week for the Bromley players having faced four games in the space of a week.
