Bromley Football Club were delighted to welcome pupils and staff from Riverside School to Hayes Lane on not one, but two occasions last week!
Firstly, the Girls’ football team were invited down to play on the Club’s FIFA 2* Stadium pitch, before heading on to watch the Bromley First team train, and meet the players.
Steve Day, PE coordinator at the school, commented; “Bromley FC have provided such a truly wonderful experience for our group of girls at Riverside School to experience a day in the life of a professional footballer. The hospitality provided by the Club will live long in the memory of our girls, and the level of impact it has made cannot be underestimated. We at Riverside School would like to thank all those that have worked tirelessly to make it happen and we look forward to a bright future ahead. If pictures paint a thousand words, then the smiles across the faces of our girls could fill a novel. Well done Bromley FC!”
Following this, the Club invited 20 staff and pupils along as our guests to the Non-League Day clash with Barrow, as we made Riverside our ‘School of the Day’. Furthermore, we gave out 300 free tickets for Riverside School students, as well as discounted entry for parents and family members.
Following the afternoon, which saw a very vocal Riverside School contingent cheer Bromley on to a 2-1 victory, Emotional Wellbeing Specialist and Extended Services Manager Diane Dalton added; “We cannot express what an amazing time our pupils have had. A huge thanks to Matt, Neil, all of the players, and everyone who has been part of building this wonderful opportunity Riverside School have, with our exciting new relationship with the Club. We have already made magical memories, and we’re all very excited for the future we have together! You have all shown compassion and enthusiasm, and our pupils are talking about the next time we’re going to see you already. Riverside School is so proud to be part of the Bromley FC family!”
In summary, headteacher Steve Solomons, pictured below with Neil Smith, summarised; “On behalf of everyone at Riverside School, we would like thank Bromley FC for their generous hospitality on Saturday 13th October for the home game against Barrow FC. From the moment our pupils arrived at the ground, they were treated like VIPs and all the staff were so welcoming throughout. The pupils clearly enjoyed the game and remained engaged and transfixed, particularly during the tense second half. When the second Bromley goal went in, there was a genuine sense of joy and relief and they definitely understood the significance of the “winning goal”. After the game, we were invited onto the pitch and the manager, captain and players couldn’t have been more welcoming as they posed for photos and high-fived our pupils. They were really buzzing afterwards and were full of excitement as they met their families to tell them all about the game. So, thank you again Bromley FC for giving our pupils a day to remember, and here’s to a very bright future together!”
We were very pleased to welcome everybody from Riverside School to the Club last week, and look forward to more exciting events!
