Bromley endured a heavy defeat at the hands of Solihull Moors on Saturday afternoon, with the Ravens shipping four goals before half time.
The hosts made the perfect start to proceedings at the Automated Technology Group Stadium, as Alex Gudger nodded home from a corner, reacting quickly after the ball skimmed off a head, leaving David Gregory with very little chance.
Things didn’t get any better for Bromley just eight minutes later, as the Moors doubled their lead. After the ball broke to Darren Carter 25 yards from goal, the veteran midfielder made no mistake, unleashing an unstoppable effort past Gregory and into the top corner.
However, the hosts weren’t done yet. Jermaine Hylton, who had been a constant thorn in Bromley’s side, beat Jordan Higgs down the right and surged into the box, before unleashing a low shot across goal, which appeared to deflect in off Danny Wright.
Bromley’s first chance fell to Jack Holland, who was playing as a striker. After showing strength to beat and hold Gudger off, he went through on goal with only the goalkeeper to beat, but fired over the crossbar.
The Ravens would be punished in first half injury time, as Wright met a low Jamey Osborne cross at the back post, and slotted home via the opposite upright from close range.
The Ravens would need a spirited second half, and had the tallest of mountains to climb.
However, it wasn’t to be. After weathering the storm for just over 25 minutes, Bromley would go further behind. After robbing substitute Dan Johnson of possession, Osborne ran into the box and finished into the bottom corner from an angle.
There would still be time for Jake Goodman to make a goal-line clearance from Adi Yussuf too, as Solihull looked for another.
Deep into injury time, the Moors’ Kwame Thomas was shown a second yellow card for simulation, following an earlier booking for timewasting, and was dismissed.
The Ravens travel to Ebbsfleet United on Tuesday 25th September, needing a response.
