Bromley slipped to defeat at a blustery and wet Hayes Lane on Saturday afternoon, despite leading the game.
The Ravens were denied a penalty early on, as Adam Mekki strode through on goal, but for the intervention of Andrew Boyce, who took the Bromley winger down and didn’t appear to get a touch on the ball. However, referee Declan Bourne waved away any protests.
On 20 minutes, Bromley took the lead in stylish fashion. A lofted ball forward from Luke Coulson found the feet of Michael Cheek, who took a touch before deceiving his man and slotting through the legs of Max Stryjek.
However, the lead only lasted twelve minutes. A bizarre own goal saw Dave Winfield head beyond the advancing Ryan Huddart from the edge of his own box to level the scored.
Eastleigh were boosted in confidence by the goal and began to take control of the game. This would pay dividends, as they struck on the stroke of half time to take the lead. Interplay involving Rob Atkinson ended with Charlie Seaman’s cross being flicked home by the head of Tyrone Barnett.
After the break, Bromley started brightly. Two headers within two minutes, from Cheek and Winfield were saved by Stryjek.
However, this would count for nothing on 52 minutes, as Andrew Boyce extended the visitors’ lead. Jack Payne’s corner was met by the head of Boyce, who netted his second consecutive goal against the Ravens at Hayes Lane.
Cheek went close to reducing the arrears on 73 minutes, but was denied by a good save by Strjyek. Minutes later, Stryjek was again at his best, this time denying a looping header from substitute Josh Rees.
The arrears were reduced in injury time, as debutant Andre Coker capitalised on an error from Stryjek, prodding home after the Spitfires stopper had dropped the ball into his path.
Eastleigh held on for the remaining moments to condemn Bromley to a first home defeat since 5th October.
