Report: Bromley 0-2 Tranmere Rovers

Bromley kicked off their second National League campaign with defeat against Tranmere Rovers at Hayes Lane.

Tranmere took the lead after just 9 minutes. Following a slick passing move, James Norwood smashed home from a slight angle, beating Alan Julian at his near post. Andy Cook could quite easily have doubled the lead moments later, but his close range header was superbly tipped round the post by Julian.

In a game where tempers flared, chance were few and far between. Blair Turgott was close to equalising for Bromley, but after a good run and low cross from Tobi Sho-Silva, his first time effort was just wide.

Rovers did double their lead just before half time, as poor defending on Bromley’s part allowed Norwood to slip in once again and tuck the ball past Julian.

In the second half, Bromley came out very much on the attacking front. Almost immediately, Dave Martin’s goalbound floated cross was tipped over the crossbar by Scott Davies. Martin then had a piledriver well saved by Davies as Bromley sought to halve the deficit.

In a game of two halves, where Tranmere dominated the first and Bromley the second, it was ultimately the visitor’s clinical finishing in the first half which saw them through.
