Bromley’s pre season campaign got underway on Saturday afternoon at Hayes Lane, with a Fulham XI, made up mostly of U23 players making the trip.
The Ravens started much the brighter of the two sides, with Reeco Hackett-Fairchild going close just three minutes in. Fantastic work from Jordan Higgs in midfield engineered time and space for the former Charlton forward just inside the box, but he dragged a low shot wide of goal.
Luke Coulson had an effort easily saved around ten minutes later, before Bromley would be denied by the offside flag. After Adrian Clifton had got a shot away in the box, the ball fell to the feet of fellow new strike partner Michael Cheek in the six yard area, but after tapping over the line, the goal was disallowed.
Fulham began to get more of a foothold in the game as time went by, and would strike the woodwork. Fabio Carvalho reacted quickly when the ball fell to his feet midway inside the box, and he struck a thunderbolt, only to be denied by the post.
Timmy Abraham, being watched by brother and England striker Tammy, then went through on goal and one on one with Mark Cousins, but he could only clip an effort over the Ravens stopper and wide of goal.
The second half saw a completely different Bromley XI, other than Cousins, made up of first teamers, trialists and academy players.
The first chance came Bromley’s way just a handful of seconds in, as Billy Bingham went for goal straight from the kickoff, and saw his long range effort narrowly miss out, landing on the roof of the net.
New goalkeeper Cousins was called into action on 61 minutes, as Sonny Hilton’s piledriver looked destined for goal, but for Cousins’ fine intervention, tipping the ball over the bar.
Trialist E went close for Bromley next. After running onto a through ball from Korrey Henry, he cut inside from the left and jinked his way into the box, but could only blaze his effort over the bar.
There were to be two more chances for Bromley before the final whistle. Firstly, Henry sent a shot on the turn narrowly wide after holding off his man, before Billy Bingham sent a 20 yard free kick towards the top corner, only for Taye Ashby-Hammond to pull off a good save and tip the ball over.
