Bromley ran out comfortable winners in their pre-season curtain raiser away to Ashford United on Saturday afternoon, thanks to a clinical second half.
The Ravens went ahead just three minutes in, as Jack Holland rose highest to head home Frankie Raymond’s pinpoint, curling free kick delivery, after Jordan Higgs had been fouled on the edge of the box.
However, just a handful of minutes later, the home side were level, as Dean Grant broke through the Bromley back line and kept his cool to slot past David Gregory, despite the Bromley stopper getting a hand to the ball.
After a few half chances, the Ravens, in their all new red away kit, would re-take the lead, and it would be a debut goal for Bobby Joe-Taylor. The Ashford born winger combined well with George Porter just outside the penalty area and picked up possession from a United defender, before bearing down on goal and slotting past Sam Mott.
After the break, Neil Smith made eleven changes to his side, with the second half side mainly consisting of new signings and trialists, with a small number of last season’s squad.
Bromley extended their lead further on 76 minutes, as Alan Dunne’s excellent cross was met by the head of Omar Bugiel, who powered a header into the bottom corner from the edge of the six yard box to give the Ravens further breathing space.
Three would become four eleven minutes later. Fantastic work from one of four trialists, saw him beat the onrushing goalkeeper to a long ball forwards, before prodding it into the centre of the box, where Bugiel stroked the ball into an empty net for his second of the game.
The visitors weren’t done there either, as another trialist rounded off the scoring with a low effort into the bottom corner from just outside the box, which was the last meaningful kick of the match.
