The Club's new Reserves squad managed by Keith Bird have got off to a good start in their pre season program with a 3 - 3 draw against Fisher and a 3 - 1 win over Thamesmead Town FC Reserves from the Surburban Premier B division (our Reserves will be playing in the Premier A Division).
On Tuesday night the Reserves fielded a trialist team for their first pre season friendly against Fisher which proved a very useful exercise for our new Reserves management team. In all Bromley used 25 players during the 90 mins with effectively two different teams in each half.
On Saturday for the squads second friendly a trimmed down team of 17 players was used.
Reserve Manager Keith Bird said, "The games on Tuesday and Saturday were very helpful to us. We have been together for 3 weeks, in which time we have had 2 invitational trials, and 3 training sessions from those intially selected from the trials.
"The first 2 training sessions were mainly focused on fitness with very little ball work. In our third training session we started to introduce a little bit on the system we would like to play and that was introduced into Saturday's game against Thamesmead.
"Most of the players still do not really know each other yet and so its very early days. We currently have 30 players in the process and sadly will need to let some more go before the season starts. Therefore, the remaining friendlies are going to be key in properly assessing alL the players."
The Reserves currently have 5 further friendlies scheduled (home games for Reserves pre season friendlies are being played at the Seagas Sports Ground, 191 Worsley Bridge Road, Beckenham BR3 1RL).
