Preview: Crawley Town
11 July 2012
Football returns to Hayes Lane this weekend with nPower League One side Crawley Town kicking off Bromley’s pre-season campaign.
Town visited Hayes Lane during the 2010/11 pre-season campaign when they were a Blue Square Bet Premier side, and since then have recorded back to back promotions and now can look forward to their first ever season in the third tier of English football. A solitary Nic McDonnell strike from the penalty spot was enough to give Bromley the win that day, with the Lillywhites recording a 1-0 victory in their final pre-season friendly of that season.
Crawley kick off their pre-season campaign tonight (Wednesday), when they travel to the Longmead Stadium to take on fellow Blue Square Bet South side Tonbridge Angels, with manager Sean O’Driscoll taking charge of his first Town game since being appointed in May.
Town will have a number of new signings in their squad for Saturday’s game, with Paul Jones, Mat Sadler, Mark Connolly and Nicky Adams all new arrivals at the Broadfield Stadium over the summer.
Bromley meanwhile, will be looking forward to starting their pre-season campaign with key members from last season’s squad already tied down to new deals for the coming season. Liam Harwood was the most recent player to commit, with the defender joining Moses Swaibu, Albert Jarrett, Ali Fuseini, Joe Welch and Pierre Joseph-Dubois in agreeing new terms for the forthcoming season.
