Bromley Blues Title Hopes Disappear

Bromley Blues were beaten 1-0 in a top of the table clash at Woodspring Park home of Weston Super Mare FC with the defeat ending the “Blues” opportunity to win the league for this season.

The game was a very close encounter played in very blustery and wet conditions that saw both teams realty struggle to make an impression. It was the home side who started better seizing the initiative with Bromley goalkeeper Adam Dunsdon having to make making several good saves. Bromley were always dangerous on the counter but never really created clear-cut chances, with both teams cancelling each other out the 1st half finished 0-0.

The 2nd half saw Bromley start very much on top putting the Weston defence under real pressure and looking really threatening in the final third but missed someone to apply a clinical finish to open the scoring with both Ben Small and Dan Hughes having chances. Somewhat against the run of play Weston scored when a deep cross was met with a powerful header and looped over Dunsdon and into the net. Bromley continued to surge forward but could not find that final pass or finish to bring the game level and it was Weston who took the points at the final whistle and who are now very close to winning the Premier Division title. It was a very disappointed dressing room after the game however all the players can be really pleased with their performances and efforts over the season to date where they have again consolidated their position in the FCYA Premier Division.

The Blues are still in a position to finish runners up but have several difficult games left where they need to pick up maximum points to ensure they have a strong finish to the season.
