Academy Update: 19/03/12

Bromley FC - Bromley Academy

Bromley Blues managed to grind out a very important point against fellow title challengers Havant & Waterlooville at West Leigh Park Stadium in their recent Premier Division FCYA fixture.

Bromley were made to work very hard to contain their opponents and the game continued with both teams seemingly cancelling each other out. It was a game of few clear cut chances and what lacked in real quality was matched by lots of endeavour and application however it was the Blues who scored first. Some clever play on the edge of the box saw Dan Hughes turn his defender and was then brought down for a penalty which Jordon Catarrhal stepped up and dispatched into the corner of the net to take Bromley 1-0 up at half time.

The lead did not last long where Havant equalised quickly from a well worked free kick that was saved by GK Callum Hampson however Dan Higgs while trying to clear the ball under pressure from an opponent deflected the ball into his own net. The game became fragmented as both teams struggled to control the game and good football was really at a premiumĀ  where both sets of players fought really hard to gain the upper hand however neither team created a worth chance. The final whistle brought a fair result and with several players out Bromley celebrated the draw after two recent long away journeys. All the players had to put in a real shift but Ryan Dawkins at centre half stood out despite taking some hefty challenges.

The draw keeps Bromley in third place well positioned to capitalise on any drooped points by teams above them.

Bromley Whites came up against a strong Dulwich Hamlet team and after a promising start struggled to continue their good work before going down 4-0. The Whites worked extremely hard to stay in the game but a second difficult game in three days finally took its toll. Both Craige Dwyer and Loris Koffi performed well in defence but the Whites inexperience told on the day.

Bromley Blues entertain Football League opponents Oxford United on Wednesday at Hayes Lane Bromley FC, kick off 2pm where we look forward to your support while the Whites travel to Sittingbourne.
