Youth Section Update: Week 16

Bromley FC - Youth Football

This weekend saw the final round of matches for 2011. Three of the ten youth sides were without scheduled fixtures while out of the remaining seven teams scheduled to play fixtures only two played with the other five fixtures being called off the morning of the game.

The under 14’s, unbeaten in their last five games, played Junior Reds in a league fixture following the news that Bromley’s influential skipper Ryan Harris will be out injured for twelve weeks with a broken ankle. Bromley started the game well but were denied by a number of saves from the home keeper who kept Junior Reds in the game. The second half saw Bromley continue to press forward and were rewarded with two goals scored by strikers Henry Ukachukwu and Joshua Jiminez . The win gives the Under 14 the double over Junior Reds. The under 14’s now look forward to their Kent County Cup game in the New Year.

Under 15’s Central managed to beat the weather and play their fixture at VCD. VCD went into the game having lost to Bromley a couple of weeks ago 2-0 and Bromley continued where they left off and Pete Bethal’s side went in at half time 3-0 up. Bromley were pegged back in the second half when VCD pulled two goals back. With VCD pusing for a equalizer and possible extra time, Bromley put the game out of doubt by scoring a fourth. Robbie Smith picked up a hat trick for Bromley while Kane Butler scored the fourth for Bromley to put the Lillywhites through to the quarter final of the Kent County Cup.
