Bromley continue their F.A Cup campaign tomorrow with a trip to Hartsdown Park to take on Margate.
The Gate, as they are nicknamed, currently find themselves in 15th place in the Ryman League Premier Division after ten games, with three wins, two draws and five defeats giving them eleven points, as the Gate look to improve on their 16th place finish last season.
The season began with a 1-1 draw away at Wealdstone before Aveley were beaten 3-1 at Hartsdown Park in the Gate’s first home game of the season. A 4-1 defeat to Lowestoft Town followed before Margate left Burgess Hill with a point after a 2-2 draw. A 2-0 defeat to Hendon was sandwiched in between encouraging wins over Horsham and Metropolitan Police.
The Gate then began their F.A. Cup campaign in the First Qualifying Round, with Tooting & Mitcham United being beaten 3-0 in front of 340, before the same team beat the Gate in their next league game, with Hornchurch also picking up three points over the Gate. The F.A. Cup campaign continued with Thamesmead Town travelling to Hartsdown Park, with the game ending in a 0-0 draw, before the Gate thrashed Town 6-1 in the replay. A defeat to Carshalton Athletic followed before Cray Wanderers travelled to Hartsdown Park and were beaten 2-1 in front of 96.
There will be two familiar faces in the Margate squad on Saturday, with former fans favourite Mark Corneille now turning out for the Gate, having spent a number of years at Hayes Lane, including the promotion winning season in which he played a crucial part of. Former Bromley midfielder Wayne Wilson also turns out for the Gate, and had two spells in temporary charge of the club following the departures of managers. Wilson is now Head of Margate FC’s Football in the Community programme.
