Academy Update: Week 1

Bromley FC - Academy Update: Week 1

The start to the 2011-12 Football Conference Youth Alliance season produced some mixed results for the Academy teams on the opening day of the season.

Bromley Blues made a promising start to the season where they defeated Basingstoke Town 5-2 in their opening FCYA Premier Division Fixture at Hayes Lane, Bromley FC. There were good performances throughout the game with Troy Williams in particular making a good impression from centre midfield with his passing and use of the ball and from current 1st team player Arron Rhule scoring twice. There were also goals from Felix Ogeah, Ehis Izokun and a penalty from Jhamal Ajide. It was also an exciting game for the players to know that the game was being streamed live on the internet and that they are able to watch the first half of the game on the club website.

Bromley Whites had a very difficult opening game against Charlton Athletic Trust in a FCYA South Division C fixture where the younger Academy team found it extremely difficult to cope with an older and more physical opponents, losing 7-1. The team were up against it throughout the game and although very disappointed with the result all the players will benefit greatly from the experience. There was a solid contribution from Craige Dywer at centre half with the “Whites” consolation goal coming from Sam Spencer. The Academy side together with the Bromley U18’s are now looking to select a group of players to represent the club in a very competitive FA Youth Cup fixture against Ebbsfleet Utd on Monday 19th September, kick off 7.30pm. Admission costs £3 adults, £1 kids.
