Academy UpdateBromley Blues maintained their winning streak after beating Wealdstone 5-2 in their latest FCYA game.

The Blues started well with Andrew Williams scoring twice with well taken goals that gave Bromley a firm foothold and controlled the game however the opponents scored a goal just before half time to make it 2-1. Bromley continued to press but against the run of play Wealdstone drew level however the boys showed a great response and went on to dominate the rest of the game scoring another three goals for a 5-2 victory. The goals came from a penalty from Ryan Boyle, Rowan Liburd and the final goal from Andrew Williams completing a well deserved hat-rick. The win keeps the Blues in contention in the race for the play offs with some important fixtures to come.

Bromley Whites finally got back to winning ways beating local rivals Welling 3-2 in a closely matched FCYA encounter. The “Whites” were always the more dominant team and were leading the game however they suffered several nervous defensive moments as they struggled to close the game out. All the boys made a solid contribution to a hardworking team performance however two goals from Jake Britnell and another strong defensive performance from defender Eamon Gaughan took the eye.

Robert Appiah opened the scoring with a clinical finish followed quickly by Britnell bundling the ball home from a corner however Welling pulled a goal back just before half time. The game remained tight until Britnell cleverly lobbed the goalkeeper but as in previous games a defensive lapse from a poor back pass saw their opponents get the game back to 3-2. Bromley managed to hold out for the final minutes where the final whistle brought much relief and jubilant scenes as the boys won three well earned points.
