Academy Update 21/01/10Bromley Blues played out a 1-1 draw against Blue Square rivals Woking in a very close encounter yesterday at Sydenham Sports ground. The game was very even through out with both teams struggling to create any real worthwhile chances where both sets of defenders held the advantage. Woking made the break midway through the 2nd half with a well worked goal. Woking then looked to defend their lead which allowed Bromley to gain a foothold in the game and start to dominate possession and chances were created. It was left to defender Aaron Gayle, who had pushed up front, to score the equaliser with a well taken goal out pacing his opponent before sliding the ball into the net from an acute angle.

Bromley Whites travelled away and earned an excellent three points with a 3-2 win over their more established opponents Histon from the Blue Square Premier. The game saw Bromley come from behind on both occasions before James Fray scored the winning goal in the final minutes. The younger Bromley side had to soak up a lot of pressure however goals from left winger Ben Edwards-Wilks and forward Robert Appiah brought them back into the game. The win takes the Whites into the top half of the table and now the Whites will look forward to challenging the clubs above them.

Bromley Academy took a team to Charlton Athletic on Tuesday and came away with a very credible 2-1 victory. The game gave our academy players the opportunity and experience to play against more established players and allowed them to recognise the level of performance required to get to a more profession level. The game saw Bromley play against a mixture of schoolboys and scholars in what was a very entertaining and worthwhile fixture for all the players.
